JSC "Kharkov Machine-Tool Building Plant" (Kharverst) is the largest manufacturer of roll grinding machines and circular grinding machines in the CIS countries.

The enterprise was put into operation in January 1936. For more than 70 years of its history, the enterprise rose to international fame according to its deserts. The products of the enterprise were exported to 41 counties worldwide including the United States, Italy, France, Belgium, Japan, China, India, and the United Kingdom. For the years of activities, more than 90 thousand units of equipment, over six hundred various models were produced, many of which were unique and were only made by Kharkov Machine-Tool Building Plant.
In 2001, JSC "Kharkov Machine-Tool Building Plant" was included in Industrial Group UPEC following which a new stage of development started for the enterprise.
Today, KHARVERST is a dynamically developing enterprise which is among ten largest machine-tool building enterprises in the CIS countries and has a significant production potential. In addition to the production of traditional types of products, the plant is mastering new present days’ models of roll grinding machines and circular grinding machines which correspond to the level of advanced overseas analogs.

Specialization

2.jpgThe enterprise specializes in the production of a wide range of circular grinding machines:

  • Roll grinding machines;
  • Heavy circular grinding machines;
  • Special automatic and semiautomatic angled wheelhead and circular NC grinding machines;
  • Semiautomatic NC machines for machining camshaft cams;
  • Semiautomatic NC machines for machining crankshaft journals;
  • Special semiautomatic NC machines for machining the paths of drilling bit leg axles (journals);
  • Special automatic circular grinding machines for machining bearing rings;
  • Universal semiautomatic circular grinding machines and other special circular grinding machines.

-1.JPGThe enterprise’s uniqueness is determined by range diversity and technical complexity of equipment produced. Machines of Kharkov Machine-Tool Building Plant make it possible to grind parts in the widest range of dimensional and weight characteristics: from miniature parts of few grams in weight to giant part of up to two meters in diameter, of up to sixteen meters long, and of up to 125 MT in weight. And, in any case, accurate to micrometers!
The enterprise’s products are asked for by substantially all the general engineering enterprises; are used in shipbuilding and the automobile industry; in the pipe-making and pulp-and-paper industry; arms making; engine-_DSC2403.jpgbuilding; tractor-building; the bearing industry.
It is the steel and iron sector that is one of the key customers of grinding equipment. All the steel and iron enterprises and heavy engineering works in the CIS countries are equipped with Kharkov roll grinding machines (for machining sheet mill rolls).
The Plant’s strategic objective is formulated in the enterprise’s development concept and is to strengthen the positions in the grinding machine market, to offer to the consumer competitive machines which correspond to the world best specimens.

Production Facilities

IMG_5752.jpgThe enterprise has the complete cycle of the production of parts and components to complete its products. The fleet available of unique production equipment makes it possible to cast complicated machine boxy and housing parts, to fabricate steel forgings of up to 150 kg in weight, to perform heat treatment and galvanic treatment to meet requirements for mechanical strength and operating durability of parts.
The machining and the following assembly of components and mechanism adjustment of machines being manufactured are performed by the highly skilled personnel of workers and engineers of the plant.
The accuracy of making parts and assembly performed is monitored continuously by the Product Quality and Certification Department.
MAR_2000.JPGThe enterprise has a fleet of new machining NC equipment made in Germany and supplied under a Technical (Technological) Retooling Program. This equipment includes turn/mill and milling machine centers from CHIRON and MONFORTS; grinding equipment from BLOHM. The enterprise has its own powerful unit which engages in the development of NC codes for NC machines and in process engineering and production tooling. NC systems, drives, relay ladder logic systems and the like are purchased from world leading suppliers such as Siemens; Mitsubishi, Shmidt, Buluff, Marposs, and others.
This makes it possible today to meet the highest requirements for engineering developments and to manufacture products of high quality and state-of-the-art level.

Complex Automation System

IMG_5755.jpgDuring 2008-10, at JSC “Kharverst” like at all the enterprises of UPEC Industrial Group, a Combined System of the Automation of the Design and Process Preparation and Computer-Aided Support of Mechanical Engineering Production (CSA) was implemented.
The CSA Project has been implemented based on integrated CAD/CAM/PLM solutions and program products of Pro/ENGINEER—Windchill platform from PTC (USA). Also, a unique process engineering and production tooling complex based on Windchill MPMLink system and VERTICAL system from ASCON (Russia) has started to operate.
As the basic advantages of CSA implementation, the following may be noted: increase in the accuracy and quality of products owing to operation in the unified environment — from a design 3D model through a manufacturing process; reduction in manufacturing process time; the improvement of effectiveness of preparing design and process documentation; a substantial reduction in the costs of design and process preparation of production as a whole.

In 2006, the enterprise implemented and maintains currently a Quality Management System complying with ISO-9001. 


Product Development and Improvement — Engineering Center Grinding Machine Development Bureau (GMDB)

GMDB develops equipment for machining metallurgical mills, machining crankshafts and camshafts of automobile and tractor engines, transmission parts of automobiles, bearing parts, etc.
Competence and experience of the staff developed during dozens of years in creating unique designs enable new generation machines to be developed.
State-of-the-art design solutions, NC systems are utilized in equipment being developed.
The maintenance of a high engineering level of the machines throughout their operational lifespan is ensured by the modular principle of machine buildup, by the unification of their assemblies and systems as well as by an optional configuration in accordance with the requirements of the customers.
